More than 20,000 vials of the vaccine distributed to GP surgeries across the country have been recalled after samples tested positive for the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.

It is thought that a further 40,000 doses could be contaminated with the hospital-acquired infection, but had not yet been sent to vaccination clinics when officials were alerted to the problem.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) last night said that no children are believed to be at risk and emphasised that the doses had been recalled purely as a precautionary measure.

The vaccination, produced by Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, is offered to all four-month-old babies and has only been available in Britain since January.

Andrew Lansley, the shadow Health Secretary, last night described the incident as “very disturbing” and demanded an explanation from the government.

Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics said it had been alerted to a sterility issue in the solvent for its Menjugate Kit, which is distributed to Britain from Italy.

The company confirmed last night that 61,117 doses of the vaccine could be contaminated.

It said that 21,301 of the doses have been sent to GP surgeries acros Britain over the past week for the Government’s childhood vaccination programme.

An MHRA spokeswoman said that some samples had tested positive for the bacteria, but these had not been brought over to Britain.

However, it was forced to recall the two batches which have been distributed for further tests to be carried out and comparisons to be drawn.

It is not known how many, if any, children have received the vaccine but there have not been any reports of adverse reactions.

The spokeswoman said: “The tested samples that failed the sterility test were part of a non-routine study undertaken by the company and were not part of the UK market product.

“Further investigations into the cause of the failure are under way by the company.

“There is currently no evidence to show that there is any risk to children.”

A spokeswoman for Novartis said: “Novartis is working with the relevant government authorities including the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and the Italian Ministry of Health to recall two lots of Menjugate Kit distributed in the UK.

“We are investigating a sterility testing positive result from samples of one lot of Aluminum hydroxide solvent which was used for the packaging of two lots of Menjugate.

“The solvent lot passed all release specifications; the subject result was identified during a special study.”

The news comes amid scepticism from parents about childhood vaccinations following the unfounded scare over the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine which was incorrectly linked to autism.

Mr Lansley said: “This is very disturbing news. We will be looking to the Government to give the fullest possible account of what’s happened.

“Parents who bring their children for immunisation need to have the greatest possible confidence that the vaccines concerned are safe and their children won’t come to harm. I will be looking to the Government to provide this specific assurance.”

Mike Penning, a Conservative health spokesman, said: “Parents take vaccines to make their children safe, not put them at risk.

“They will want answers as to why it took so long to withdraw the vaccine. The Government has got to come clean about its decision-making and when the Secretary of State was told what happened. We could need an independent inquiry to establish the facts.”

A Department of Health spokeswoman said last night: “We are aware that the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has recalled two batches of meningitis C vaccine. This is as a precautionary measure and we are not aware of any problems in the UK.

“All batches of the vaccine that have come into the UK have passed all their tests including sterility.

“If people have had this vaccine recently and are concerned contact your GP or NHS Direct.”

WASHINGTON -- U.S. health officials urged pediatricians Monday to temporarily stop using one of two vaccines against a leading cause of diarrhea in babies, after discovering that doses of GlaxoSmithKline's Rotarix were contaminated with bits of an apparently benign pig virus.

Glaxo's vaccine has been used in millions of children worldwide, including 1 million in the U.S., with no signs of safety problems - and the pig virus isn't known to cause any kind of illness in people or animals, said Dr. Margaret Hamburg, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.

But vaccines are supposed to be sterile, and because there is a competing vaccine against diarrhea-causing rotavirus that has tested clean - Merck's RotaTeq - the FDA decided to err on the side of caution.

"We don't want to scare parents," Hamburg told reporters. "This was a difficult decision for us to make because there is no evidence at this time that there is a risk to patients who have received this vaccine, and we know there are real benefits for children to be vaccinated against rotavirus."

Vitamin D better than vaccines at preventing flu, report claims

The risk of children suffering from flu can be halved if they take vitamin D, doctors in Japan have found. The finding has implications for flu epidemics since vitamin D, which is naturally produced by the human body when exposed to direct sunlight, has no significant side effects, costs little and can be several times more effective than anti-viral drugs or vaccine.

Only one in ten children, aged six to 15 years, taking the sunshine vitamin in a clinical trial came down with flu compared with one in five given a dummy tablet. Mitsuyoshi Urashima, the Japanese doctor who led the trial, told The Timesthat vitamin D was more effective than vaccines in preventing flu.

Vitamin D was found to be even more effective when the comparison left out children who were already given extra vitamin D by their parents, outside the trial. Taking the sunshine vitamin was then shown to reduce the risk of flu to a third of what it would otherwise be.

Altogether 354 children took part in the trial, which took place during the winter of 2008-09, before the swine flu epidemic. Vitamin D was found to protect against influenza A, which caused last year’s epidemic, but not against the less common influenza B. The trial, which was double blind, randomised, and fully controlled scientifically, was conducted by doctors and scientists from Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan.

The children were given a daily dose of 1200 IUs (international units) of vitamin D over a period of three months. In the first month children in the group taking the vitamin became ill just as often as those taking the dummy tablet. But by the second month, when the vitamin level in the children’s blood was higher, the advantage of the vitamin was clear.

The Japanese scientists, writing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, say that the anti-viral drugs zanamivir and oseltamivir reduce risk of flu infection by 8 per cent in children who have been exposed to infection, compared with a 50 per cent or greater reduction with vitamin D.

Anti-virals are also too expensive, and possibly too toxic, to be given to the population as a whole whereas vitamin D has additional benefits. The sunshine vitamin not only prevents bone fractures but is also believed to reduce risks of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other illness, including various bacterial as well as viral infections.

The Japanese finding supports a theory that low blood levels of the sunshine vitamin occurring in winter explain why flu epidemics generally peak between December and March.

Vitamin D activates the innate immune system, enabling the body to produce several proteins such as defensin and cathelicidin which trigger cell activity and disable viruses.

Dr Urashima said: “Vitamin D and vaccine work by quite different mechanisms. Vitamin D enhances innate immunity while vaccine enhances acquired immunity. So we do not have to select only one way of prevention, rather we should do both ways, I think.”

Dr John Oxford, professor of virology at Queen Mary School of Medicine, London, said: “This is a timely study. It will be noticed by scientists. It fits in with the seasonal pattern of flu. There is an increasing background of solid science that makes the vitamin D story credible. But this study needs to be replicated. If it is confirmed we might think of giving vitamin D at the same time as we vaccinate.”

Central Figure in CDC Vaccine Cover-Up Absconds With $2M

A central figure behind the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) claims disputing the link between vaccines and autism and other neurological disorders has disappeared after officialsdiscovered massive fraud involving the theft of millions in taxpayer dollars. Danish police are investigating Dr. Poul Thorsen, who has vanished along with almost $2 million that he had supposedly spent on research.

Thorsen was a leading member of a Danish research group that wrote several key studies supporting CDC's claims that the MMR vaccine and mercury-laden vaccines were safe for children. Thorsen's 2003 Danish study reported a 20-fold increase in autism in Denmark after that country banned mercury based preservatives in its vaccines. His study concluded that mercury could therefore not be the culprit behind the autism epidemic.

His study has long been criticized as fraudulent since it failed to disclose that the increase was an artifact of new mandates requiring, for the first time, that autism cases be reported on the national registry. This new law and the opening of a clinic dedicated to autism treatment in Copenhagen accounted for the sudden rise in reported cases rather than, as Thorsen seemed to suggest, the removal of mercury from vaccines. Despite this obvious chicanery, CDC has long touted the study as the principal proof that mercury-laced vaccines are safe for infants and young children. Mainstream media, particularly the New York Times, has relied on this study as the basis for its public assurances that it is safe to inject young children with mercury -- a potent neurotoxin -- at concentrations hundreds of times over the U.S. safety limits.

Thorsen, who was a psychiatrist and not a research scientist or toxicologist, parlayed that study into a long-term relationship with CDC. He built a research empire called the North Atlantic Epidemiology Alliances (NANEA) that advertised its close association with the CDC autism team, a relationship that had the agency paying Thorsen and his research staff millions of dollars to churn out research papers, many of them assuring the public on the issue of vaccine safety.

The discovery of Thorsen's fraud came as the result of an investigation by Aarhus University and CDC which discovered that Thorsen had falsified documents and, in violation of university rules, was accepting salaries from both the Danish university and Emory University in Atlanta -- near CDC headquarters -- where he led research efforts to defend the role of vaccines in causing autism and other brain disorders. Thorsen's center has received $14.6 million from CDC since 2002.

Thorsen's partner Kreesten Madsen recently came under fierce criticism after damning e-mailssurfaced showing Madsen in cahoots with CDC officials intent on fraudulently cherry picking facts to prove vaccine safety.

Leading independent scientists have accused CDC of concealing the clear link between the dramatic increases in mercury-laced child vaccinations beginning in 1989 and the epidemic of autism, neurological disorders and other illnesses affecting every generation of American children since. Questions about Thorsens's scientific integrity may finally force CDC to rethink the vaccine protocols since most of the other key pro vaccine studies cited by CDC rely on the findings of Thorsen's research group. These include oft referenced research articles published by the Journal of the American Medical Association, the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the New England Journal of Medicine and others. The validity of all these studies is now in question.

Free Competition in Currency Act of 2009

What the controllers want is clear... more state power, the IMF calls for a world currency. More Central control, more state currency. What we need is a range of free market currencies all backed by metals like gold and silver. The competition would reduce volatility and keep prices in check for consumers. Currencies could even partner with retailers to further push down prices. With electronic banking collecting a number of different currencies would be easy and shrewd shoppers could save a bundle. Doing this would restore trust and balance in the market, limit the imperial aspirations of governments, and eliminate inflation.

Of course no one would force you to use these monies, and the Federal Reserve notes would still be in circulation. But without a gold backing, the fed note, would go the way of the dodo... never to be seen again. What we need is a range of free market currencies all backed by metals like gold and silver and The Competition in Currency Act would do just that>! The idea of a free market solution for currency, in order to fix the problems of inflation and volatility is the most important move to turn our economy around for the long term.

So i checked Opencongress.org and looked at H.R 4248. It does not surprise me that Ron Paul is the author of this bill. For a number of years he has owned a virtual monopoly on economic common sense in the house. It is because he believes in YOU. He believes in your freedom, to run the micro-economy, and come up with local solutions. Because the the real debate that washington does not want to have, is the debate over central or federal control versus competition and local control. Put the power of the economy in the hands of the savers, so that it might better serve job creation and community investment for long term projects. Projects like energy and schools, basically, the overall collectively used infrastructure. All of which are highly profitable and create the lifetime employment sought after by many americans. Ron Paul knows that if you incentivize savings americans will save. You cannot have capitalism without capital... people. Let me say it again for the people that drank fluoride as a kid like me... You cannot have capitalism without capital... people. For many years americans have not saved because our consumer based economy, created out of fiat money, does not incentivize saving. Inflation, the real kind, which include things like, energy costs, housing, insurance, taxes, education, and health care dramatically increases. When money is worth less year after year, saving is even harder and even less desirable to do. Making socialistic ideals the false solution to the manufactured problem of "global economic collapse".

A range of currencies would solve these problems, first, the inflation problem. If you make a dollar redeemable for gold, silver, or really anything of value one can eliminate inflation. Its really that easy. It is said that someone can buy a nice suit today with the same amount of gold that a roman could buy... well, a toga, or whatever the fuck a roman would wear. The reason inflation affects education and health care so much more than other parts of the economy is because of the fiat government money that floods these systems. If inflation is a hose and money is water, and government decides where it floods, the effects of inflation are easier to see.

Second, volatility... what is it>? and how can free market currencies help>? A volatile market is one with violent shifts in prices. Seemingly unpredictable ups and downs, which benefit speculators at the expense of workers and savers. Contrary to mainstream belief, money that disappears on wall street does not go to money heaven. No, instead it goes in to the hands of a few speculative investors in the form of bonuses or to pay your elected representatives for favors in washington. These speculators, like goldman sacs, have taken over much of the economy and convinced the administration, congress and the american sheeple that what is in the best interest of a handful of banks is the best interest of the greater economy. The federal reserve note and the perverse incentives of short selling and derivatives that are linked to it cannot hold value with gold. Under a free market currency system it would not be long before this fraud would be eliminated. Problem solved not by regulation, but by giving the currency real value. If a currency was funding war I would choose not to support it. The fed reserve note has too much blood on it, meaning that to dump the dollar for an array of free market currencies would not only make economic sense, it would also be the right thing to do for peace around the world. In fact, I believe it is the most essential step to take for lasting peace to occur.

When the ability to create money is taken out of the hands of Fed speculators and put into the hands of gold prospectors the money supply will not support zombie capitalism, where fiat money is handed out to non-productive... in fact, destructive parts of the economy, like bonuses... but especially war. A redeemable money will mean that people will save... and only invest in those things which create long term returns. The type of investment that creates good jobs which create good products that raise everyones standard of living. The incentives that make capitalism great will be returned and a new economy will be forged out of the lessons of the old. Revolutions have been fought to take this very power and all we have to do is summon ourselves, will what is left of this Republic and pass this legislation.

Why a New 911 investigation is more Important than ever

After the numerous and eronious incursions on liberties and freedom and the masssive increases in anti-terrorism related budgets, is it no surprise that the federal government fails to prevent violent attacks. And is it also no surprise that after such attacks the same inept bunch are granted more power. Mathematics can easily show fearing terrorism is about as silly as fearing petting zoo attacks. Did you know that during the 7/7 London train bombing government agents were running a war game>? The war game mirrored the atttack almost exactly. What are the odds>? The National Security Administration has 250,000 emloyees and 6 Gs of phone data per american, according to Frontline. The Patriot Act, body scanners, warrantless wiretapeing, cell phone tracking technology, google, license plate scanners, TSA, literally hundreds of thousands of people yet the Christmas day bomber can get on a plane without a passport or visa>?

The root of our all these problems is 9-11. From destruction of the bill of rights to the repressive take over of the web all have the same pretext... terrorism... 9-11. It is clear the majority of americans have questions about 9-11, almost all of which can be answered by a real investigation. Holding people accountable for the failings of these attacks is key to preventing them. People in the government are at the very least negligent in regards to the attacks on 9-11, they could very well could be criminal. Secrets are repugnant, their stench is choking our country as it slips into pure fascism.

For as long as I can remember the suspicion of authority has driven me, providing a thirst for knowledge. I don't trust the notion that someone else can decide for me, for example this collective we call america, if I disagree with it, I should have the right to say, “NO... I will not pay for it... I refuse... I don't want to pay for war... or political favors...” I don't trust those in power, I intend to expose them. If you use a gun to get your way, you are my ideological foe. That means I do not support the following institutions: The Federal Reserve, IRS, NSA, CIA, FBI, NIST, FEMA, etc. Without the power to say “NO”, you are not free.

I see a new vision, a world free of controllers, where there are many choices for currencies, energy is off the grid and practically free, where people go to work building meaningful products that raise our standard of living. People, when given the option to solve their problems with a gun, loose the opportunity to solve them by other means. Problems solved at gunpoint sow the seeds for their own eventual destruction. Yes, the economy is collapsing... but why>? I would argue it is because the current system has no moral authority, which is essential if one has principles. The government collects tax at gunpoint, if you decide to say “NO”, they will arrest you, seize your property, and confine you in a rape room. America listen up... the IRS are the strong arm thugs of the IMF, World Bank. Fact: your income tax dollars do not pay for any services directly... instead the funds go to the interest on the debt, much of which is overseas. Yes, the economy is collapsing... and we know why... because the economy is immoral, it rewards speculation and short term gain while punishing savings and prudent foresight. This is evil. Plainly stealing from the people that work hard providing the goods and services we all enjoy.
